Almost every actor on Game of Thrones has likely accepted the fact they might die at any moment and be out of a job. But with the show wrapping up in 2019, we might not actually find out whether one of the characters lives or dies at all.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Tobias Menzies (Outlander, The Terror), who plays Edmure Tully, aka the brother of Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones, said he hasn't heard from anyone at the show about wrapping up his role in the final season.
“The honest answer is, I have no idea. He’s obviously somewhere in a prison, he’s still around alive somewhere. They’re pretty stingy with their information, and I’ve not heard anything from them.”
Okay, there’s stingy and then just ridiculous. If he was coming back, he’d have to know by now, right? The final season of the show is only six episodes long and has already begun shooting. There's still a slight chance they bring him in to wrap up his story, but maybe we're just being optimistic.
Tully was one of the (very) few survivors of the infamous Red Wedding, where he was taken captive by the Freys way back in Season 3. He also made an appearance in Season 6 during Riverrun, but since then has been M.I.A. Plus, Menzies himself is busy becoming an actual prince on The Crown, and we all know how dangerous getting anywhere near a throne in Westeros could be. So perhaps it's all for the best.
