What do you do when you’re sailing through some space debris and a pesky Thor splats a greasy streak across your windshield? Well, if you’re the Guardians of the Galaxy, you bring him inside, clean things up, and… admire his physique?
Astonishment at the godlike specimen they’ve snagged is the setup for the Guardians / Thor crossover clip shown at Sunday night’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which was suffused with plenty of buzz for next month’s release of Avengers: Infinity War.
The clip gives Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Guardians a meet cute the way only Marvel can: by mining the super-seriousness of it all for humor. As you can see, Thor’s arrival may end up not sitting so well with an attention-hungry Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).
Though we expect it anytime, Marvel hasn't released its own standalone version of the clip, but Legends Universe posted the grab below from the awards show. We'll update this post with Marvel's higher-quality version once it comes across.
“How is this dude still alive?” Star-Lord, um, marvels once they’ve dragged Thor’s still-unconscious body inside.
“He is not a dude,” says an awestruck Drax (Dave Bautista), evidently forgetting how swole he is himself. “You’re a dude. This… this is a man. A handsome, muscular man.” Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is equally enamored, which brings a whole new tension to the Guardians’ previously chill vibe.
It all gets shattered, though, when Thor springs back to life, leaps off the table where the Guardians have him splayed, and gives an understandably confused quick take to get his bearings. That isn’t exactly a look of trust in his eyes when he grunts out a super-suspicious “Who are you guys?”
People lucky enough to be in the right place at 2017’s D23 Expo got a peek at this scene back in July, when Marvel previewed the clip, along with additional footage showing Thanos calling down the moon, for an in-house audience. Now that we’re only weeks away from the movie’s release, though, expect to start seeing way more of these zany character crossover clips before Avengers: Infinity War lands in theaters on April 27.
