Jane Foster (aka The Mighty Thor) is coming to Australia in early 2021. During an appearance on an Instagram livestream hosted by Serena Williams, Natalie Portman revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder is planning to kick off production in the Land Down Under “at the beginning of next year.” The actress will be taking up the mantle of God of Thunder as her character does in the comics. While everything in Hollywood is moving at a slower pace because of COVID-19, Portman sees the delay as a chance to build up her godly physique.

"More time to get jacked," she said. "I’ve got the carbo-loading down, but not the exercise part … I’m interested to see if I can actually gain muscle."

Last week, director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) revealed that he was going to take another pass at the screenplay, which he’s co-writing with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great). The film is currently scheduled to open in theaters everywhere Feb. 11, 2022.

In another part of the MCU, Thor’s brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is gearing up for his very own TV series on Disney+. The show is said to be centered around the version of the character who stole the Space Stone in Avengers: Endgame. In that reality, he’s still a power-hungry maniac who doesn’t have the experiences of Dark World and Ragnarok to soften his outlook. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, cast member Gugu Mbatha-Raw teased some major development for the titular God of Mischief.

“It goes to other places and you get to see that character mature in a different way,” she said. “It’s going to be exciting for the fans to really see Tom and that character take the center of the story.”

There’s no word on when Loki (showrun by Michael Waldron) will make its debut on Disney+. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was supposed to kick off the Marvel shows in August, but since that project is delayed by the pandemic, everything is up in the air. Mbatha-Raw's prominent role remains a mystery for the time being.
