Just weeks after finding its Tramp in The Leftovers star Justin Theroux, Disney's live-action remake of its animated classic Lady and the Tramp has found its Lady: Genre powerhouse Tessa Thompson.

Thompson is now set to provide the voice for the Cocker Spaniel from a well-to-do family who falls for the scrappy Tramp, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film, the latest in a long line of Disney releases providing live-action updates to its original animated hits, is expected to land on Disney's still-unnamed direct-to-consumer streaming service sometime after that service launches in 2019. Charlie Bean (The Lego Ninjago Movie) is set to direct.

Like Disney's update of The Jungle Book and Tim Burton's upcoming remake of Dumbo, the film is expected to use a mixture of live-action and highly realistic CGI animation for its animal protagonists.

The project is the latest in a long line of major genre roles for Thompson, a run which kicked into high gear last year with her performance as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. That was followed up with an expanded role in the second season of HBO's Westworld (she'll also be sticking around for Season 3), a co-starring role in Alex Garland's Annihilation, and a key performance in Boots Riley's acclaimed satire Sorry To Bother You, one of this year's most talked-about films. Now, in addition to sticking around at Disney with this project (after working with Disney-owned Marvel Studios), Thompson is set to re-team with Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth in the upcoming Men In Black reboot MIB. The stellar run continues.

Thompson joins a cast that already included Theroux, Kiersey Clemons as Lady's owner Darling, Benedict Wong as Bull the English bulldog, and Ashley Jensen as Jackie the Scottish Terrier.

What do you think? Will Thompson be the ideal Lady?
