New pic of Thor with hammer reveals the origin of a superhero. (Maybe.)

After teasing us yesterday with production art of Thor duking it out with his arch-enemy Loki, Marvel ramped up the buzz by releasing a photo of Chris Hemsworth wielding the Thunder God's hammer—and if we're interpreting the pic correctly, it may be showing the moment a man turns into a god.

The new image, printed in today's USA Today, shows Hemsworth in his mortal identity of Don Blake, muscles rippling, apparently struggling to lift Mjolnir.

You remember Mjolnir, don't you? That's the hammer that on its side (well, in the comics, at least) was written "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Could this photo be of the very moment when Don Blake discovers that he IS worthy? That he's the son of Odin? Marvel didn't seem to provide any info one way or another to give us a hint. But based on the actor's effort, we're thinking a definite maybe.

Either way, it's a cool photo.

What do you think?
