Hey, Marvel fans waiting for a female-anchored superhero flick — here’s a little more fuel to the fire.

Natalie Portman, who co-stars as Jane in Thor: The Dark World, was chatting with SciFi Now about her thoughts on female-led superhero pics. We’re still waiting for one to actually happen (here’s looking at you, Captain Marvel), but Portman said she has heard some rumblings that it might not be too far off.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

“There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters.

But they do definitely have strong female characters in them, and I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman.’”

Most likely Portman is referring to that Captain Marvel flick that has been churning up the rumor mill lately. If nothing else, you’d have to think Avengers director Joss Whedon is itching to do it, if only to scratch that lingering Wonder Woman itch.

What do you think? Which female superhero would you like to see on the big screen?
