A new international promo for Deapool has been released, featuring the fourth-wall-breaking Merc With a Mouth. In said new promo, the foul-mouthed antihero is seen lining up his shot like a boss (among other things) before kicking a baddie in the head.
The Vietnamese promo is only the latest in a series of promotional material (including trailers, pics, interviews and more promos) being released as the 20th Century Fox comic-book movie is gearing up for a February premiere, and it features some previously unseen footage.
One of the characteristics of Marvel’s antihero is that he constantly breaks the fourth wall with the readers/viewers. For example, in the Marvel comics, Deadpool is fully aware that he is in a comic book, and he expresses his thoughts via hilarious captions in little yellow boxes. But there’s still a basic rule to follow, as Miller explained to Empire Magazine (via Comicbook.com).
“Deadpool breaks the fourth wall. Wade Wilson never does. Does he know he’s a comic book character in a comic book movie? Does he know that Ryan Reynolds is playing him, and that Ryan Reynolds also played Green Lantern? It’s a big rabbit hole, and we explore it pretty deep.”
He added that the most important thing was finding where the line was in terms of the Merc With a Mouth breaking the fourth wall and that they decided it was “basically a power” that shouldn’t be used before Wade Wilson gets his powers following the experiment. Check out the new promo below, and let us know what you think.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool will open in movie theaters on Feb. 12. Happy Velentine's Day!
