A sumptuous new video featurette and teaser trailer for the hotly anticipated second season of Outlander, Ron D. Moore’s time-travel drama series, have been released.

Featuring new interviews with stars Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser) as well as showrunner Ron Moore, executive producer Maril Davis, production designer Jon Gary Steele and set decorator Gina Cromwell, it also features lots of brand-new scenes (Louise de Rohan speaks! And so does wee Fergus!) and a smattering of rather well-spoken French. “Emmenez-moi à la Bastille, en vitesse!” Translation: “Take me to the Bastille, hurry!”

The featurette focuses on the first half of the season, which takes place in Paris and Versailles as Jamie and Claire, helped by the ever-faithful Murtagh (Everyone needs a Murtagh, as played by Duncan Lacroix), work against Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Andrew Gower) to stop the doomed Jacobite rising and the Battle of Culloden, all thanks to Claire’s knowledge of the future. Being a time traveler has to have its perks, after all.

The video highlights the stunning 18th-century setting, opulent costumes and lavish set designs. Let me take one sec to bow down (or rather, curtsy) to Steele and Cromwell — as well as costume designer Terry Dresbach — for the overall splendor of the new season. It's truly a feast for the eyes. Have a look:

Annnnd here’s the new teaser trailer from Amazon Prime (where people in the UK can see the Starz series), which boasts a couple of fresh new scenes. Redcoats! Sword fights! Planes!? Time travel is awesome!

Season 2 is based on author Diana Gabaldon’s second Outlander novel, Dragonfly in Amber. If you guys need a bit of a primer for the new key players, have a look at our Season 2 new characters guide.

Outlander Season 2 premieres April 9 on Starz.
