2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters will give us the modern kaiju battle royale that fans have been waiting to see. And with Legendary dropping these new titans posters, we're even more excited!

While Godzilla fighting monsters back in his 2014 movie was cool, fans were clamoring for him to take on the classic Toho monsters they grew up watching. Next year it will happen with the “MonsterVerse” debuts of titans Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. To help commemorate the launch of the most recent trailer, Legendary Entertainment has released three new posters featuring the latest kaiju on the block.

Mothra made her debut in 1961 and has been more of an ally of Godzilla than an enemy. Whether she is in her caterpillar form or her moth form, worshipers view her as a deity on her home island. In the newest film, she will be known as Queen of the Monsters, and have a powerful link to the King of the Monsters himself.

Rodan was created in 1956 and goes through the most mood swings of all the kaiju. Sometime Rodan teams with Godzilla, and sometimes Rodan fights him tooth and nail. Seems like a sibling relationship if we ever saw one. With features of a pteranodon, Rodan’s wings can create a thunderclap so big that it can destroy an entire city. While somewhere the Hulk is jealous, the rest of the world is probably anxious.

Ghidorah first appeared in 1964 and is generally known as the arch-enemy of Godzilla. Other titans can give it their best shot, but if you’re going up against the King of the Monsters, you’ll need two tails and three heads to give him a run for his money. From the looks of the trailer, Ghidorah appears to be the antagonist of this story, which will likely be great for movie fans, but not so much for folks in the movie whose homes are 100% getting destroyed.

Once again, the fate of the world is in the hands of its most dominant beings as they fight for it. We can’t wait to get our tickets to watch, what about you?

Godzilla: King of the Monsters — starring Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Ken Watanabe, and Kyle Chandler, and directed by Michael Dougherty —opens in theaters May 31, 2019.
