Now this is some sci-fi cred. Tom Hanks has signed on for a new movie from Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik.
The film, BIOS, follows a robot in a post-apocalyptic world who has been created specifically to care for the dog of his dying creator. Along the way, the robot learns about "love, friendship, and the meaning of human life," according to Variety. Awww. Hanks will play the robot's dying creator. The script is the first from writers Craig Luck and Ivor Powell.
Sapochnik has directed multiple episodes of Game of Thrones, and won an Emmy for directing the infamous "Battle of the Bastards" episode. He also directed 2010's Repo Man, as well as episodes of Iron Fist, Fringe, Falling Skies, and Under the Dome. Hanks, over his vast, double Academy Award-winning career has starred in many genre-tinged projects, including Big, The 'Burbs, Toy Story, The Green Mile, and, of course, David S. Pumpkins.
The project, being produced by Robert Zemeckis and Kevin Misher, should begin filming in the first quarter of 2018. It has'nt been picked up yet, but Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment is the expected destination, with Warner Bros. and Legendary waiting in the wings. Regardless, with a big name like Hanks attached, it shouldn't take long to find a studio.
What do you think of this dog and Hanks show? Will you bite?
