Back in August, it was announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley had been cast as the female lead in director Doug Liman’s Chaos Walking. Now it looks like they’ve zeroed in on a Spider-Man star to headline the movie alongside the young British actress.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland is in talks to swing into Lionsgate's big-screen adaptation of British author Patrick Ness’ YA book trilogy, which includes: The Knife of Never Letting Go (2008), The Ask and the Answer (2009) and Monsters of Men (2010). Fun Fact: Ness is the creator and showrunner of the BBC’s Doctor Who spinoff, Class. But I digress.

Holland would play Todd Hewitt, the young hero of the piece. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world “where all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise.” It’s also a world where all the women have been killed by a Spackle-created germ, which is what also created the Noise. In the book, Todd Hewitt must flee his hometown with his faithful dog when they cross paths with a strange, mute woman named Viola Eade (Daisy Ridley).

The adaptation, penned by Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) from a draft by Jamie Linden (Money Monster), will be produced by Doug Davison (The Departed, How to Train Your Dragon, Mena) and Allison Shearmur (The Hunger Games, Cinderella, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Chaos Walking is slated for a 2018 release.

Since Holland totally killed it as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in this summer's Marvel blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, I'm actually looking forward to seeing him breathe life into Patrick Ness' character. What do you guys think of Tom Holland for the role of Todd Hewitt?
