Afraid to get a little wet? CBS All Access has released a trailer for the Star Trek short "The Brightest Star," which takes place on Commander Saru's homeworld of Kaminar. Saru (played by Doug Jones) is a Kelpien, an amphibian-esque species of alien not unlike Kif Kroker and the people of Amphibios 9 from Futurama.

No, we're not kidding.

"The Brightest Star" is one of four shorts that are airing in the run-up to Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery in January. It will be the third to air, after October's "Runaway" and this month's "Calypso." Written by Discovery scribes Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt, the film was directed by Douglas Aarniokoski (a co-EP on the Limitless TV show).

At New York Comic Con, Jones did reveal that we would visit Kaminar and meet Saru's sister in an episode of Star Trek: Discovery's second season. Moreover, he'll learn a shocking bit of information about himself, which he couldn't spoil at the time.

"Doug is gonna blow you away," said the show's producer, Heather Kadin.

Here's a photo from the short as well:

"The Brightest Star" will premiere on CBS All Access Thursday, Dec. 6. The fourth and final short, "The Escape Artist" (directed by and starring Rainn Wilson), drops January 3. The Spock-filled second season of Star Trek: Discovery airs Monday, January 17.
