Brad Bird’s 1999 animated flick The Iron Giant still stands as one of the greatest animated films of the modern era, and with the film getting an ambitious Blu-ray reissue, the studio has put together a full-on documentary looking into the story behind the project.
The footage is not only a fascinating window into the genesis of a pioneering animated film, but also a snapshot of a long-lost era and a peek at mega-director Brad Bird before he was directing blockbusters like Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. The documentary was directed by Anthony Giacchino, and is one heck of a cool special feature, especially considering it’s only available bundled with the film’s pending rerelease. If there's any film that deserves it, it's Iron Giant.
The Giant’s Dream: The Making of The Iron Giant is bundled in the Signature Edition Blu-ray release of The Iron Giant hitting shelves Sept. 6.
