The Back to the Future franchise has enjoyed a renaissance of sorts recently, mostly because we’re now living in the mythical “future” of 2015 imagined in the second film. What better way to get your nostalgia on even further than with a documentary?

That’s where Back in Time comes in. The new documentary started out as an interview with Christopher Lloyd but has thankfully blossomed into a full-fledged film project featuring comments from Robert Zemeckis, Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Bob Gale, Alan Silvestri and celebrity fans like Dan Harmon (Community) and Adam Goldberg (The Goldbergs).

It looks like a cool project, and considering the geek cachet this trilogy still carries to this day (especially the second film), it should be a lot of fun to look back 30 years and dig into the legacy. There’s just one problem: As the film grew, so did the expenses. So they’ve returned to Kickstarter in an effort to raise $50,000 to complete the project.

Check out the latest trailer for the film below and let us know what you think.

They’re shooting for an October 2015 release date, which is fitting, since that’s the same time Marty himself arrived in this year. But unless you have a DeLorean, we’re gonna have to wait it out the old-fashioned way.
