This trailer uses bloopers to show how Star Trek would have made a great comedy

Would the Trek reboot have worked better as a screwball comedy?

The 2009 Trek relaunch was notable in that, despite some wonky pseudoscience (nothing new for Trek there, really) it was actually pretty competent and enjoyable. Sure, we all joke about those wacky lens flares, but when you get down to it, that movie was pretty darn passable.

But you know what would have launced 2009's Trek into greatness? If it had been a zany comedy instead of an action film with sci-fi touches. And that is the sort-of thesis to this recut trailer using the Star Trek blooper reel, brought to you by the same people who created The Avengers: Derp Edition.

Sure, it's not very Spock to say "Oh my God" a bunch while making sad monkey faces at the camera, but Khan was magically white in 2013.

All bets are off with reboots is what we're saying. Also, Kirk's broken captain's chair might be a more compelling anatagonist than Nero. We're just putting that out there.
