As if Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman weren't already busy enough with TV shows and movies, including (among others) the Star Trek sequel, the writing superteam has just paired with Underworld director Len Wiseman for a TV series based on the legend of Sleep Hollow. But, of course, with a twist.
The trio will co-executive-produce the prospective series, titled (so far) simply Sleepy Hollow, together. Orci and Kurtzman will script the project with co-writer Phillip Iscove (who came up the idea), and Wiseman will direct the pilot.
The show will be a modern-day re-imaging of the classic Washington Irving legend, and will feature Ichabod Crane teaming up with a female local sheriff to solve all manner of mysteries in their town. So it seems like a Supernatural/X-Files/Fringe/Buffy the Vampire Slayer kind of hybrid, with a classic name.
As we move past the 2012 pilot season and into the pitching season for the 2013-2014 TV year, this is going to be one of the big projects to watch. No one's picked it up yet, but all the major networks are likely to hear about this show, and with the talent behind it it's likely to be very sought-after.
What do you think? Does this sound like something you'd watch?
