Not long ago, we told you that Ryan Reynolds—who we'll soon see in Green Lantern—was going to star in R.I.P.D. as undead cop Nick Cruz. Now the film may get even cooler because "The Dude" himself, aka Jeff Bridges, may star alongside Reynolds in the film.

Deadline reports that:

Universal Pictures is negotiating with Jeff Bridges to star with Ryan Reynolds in the Robert Schwentke-directed supernatural comedy R.I.P.D. The film centers on a police force comprised of undead officers, based on the Peter Lenkov comic. Zach Galifianakis was going to star but exited over uncertainty of when Reynolds would be able to make the film because of the option Warner Bros holds for a sequel to Green Lantern.

Bridges would probably play an Old West-style gunslinging partner of Cruz—which would be kind of funny considering Bridges just starred as an old gunslinger in True Grit.

The always-awesome Jeff Bridges is no stranger to sci-fi movies, having already starred as Kevin Flynn in Tron and its recent sequel Tron: Legacy. He was also the titular alien visitor in John Carpenter's 1984 film Starman and played bad guy Obadiah Stane in Iron Man.

What do you think? Do you think Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds would make an awesome duo?
