Merry Christmas! As far as genre TV is concerned this week, it pretty much begins and ends with BBC Amierca’s long-awaited Christmas special of Doctor Who. The special will mark the final appearance of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor, as he goes out with a fascinating character piece that will find him interacting with his very first incarnation.

Beyond Doctor Who, it’s a thin week. SYFY is one of the few networks bringing some fresh episodes, led by Happy!, Van Helsing and Ghost Wars. TNT is dropping a pair of new Librarians episodes, and Hulu is expected to drop a new episode of Runaways. That’s … pretty much it. There are a few good marathons, though (we’re looking at you, SYFY’S Twilight Zone run), plus FX has Jurassic World in case you're jonesing for some dino-action.

Check out our full rundown below and let us know what you’ll be watching.

Doctor Who (BBC America), Monday 9 p.m. - “Twice Upon a Time”

The final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor's journey sees the Time Lord team up with the first ever Doctor and a returning Bill Potts for one last adventure.

The Librarians (TNT), Wednesday 8 p.m. - “And the Bleeding Crown,” “And the Grave of Time”

A Librarian from the past teams up with the Librarians of the present to take down an ancient and powerful enemy let loose in the modern day. When superfan Flynn is met with the prospect of teaming with his Librarian hero Darrington Dare, he could not be more excited, until Darrington leaves the Librarians with this dire warning: There can be only one Librarian - ignore at your own peril. Then: When Baird goes after Nicole Noone in an attempt to repair her rift with the Library, she ends up joining Nicole in a mission to retrieve a dangerous artifact before it falls into the hands of Russian grave robbers.

Happy! (SYFY), Wednesday 10 p.m. - “Year of the Horse”

Sax and Happy follow their fortunes to Chinatown while Blue's sister shows up seeking revenge for the murder of her sons; and Merry's search draws her ever closer to Very Bad Santa.

Jurassic World (FX), Saturday 8 p.m.

The acclaimed, blockbuster revival of the Jurassic Park franchise comes to basic cable. For a slow night it could be a lot of fun. Come for the Chris Pratt, stay for the motorcycle gang of raptors.

Twilight Zone Marathon (SYFY), Sunday 3 a.m.

It’s become an annual tradition, and SYFY is bringing the classic sci-fi series back for yet another New Year’s celebration. If you’ve been enjoying Black Mirror and want something a bit more OG, be sure to tune in.

Okay, OUR determination of the 13 best episodes of the classic show "The Twilight Zone." Do you agree?

Doctor Who All Day Marathon (BBC America), Monday

In preparation for this year’s Christmas special, BBC America is showing a whole day of Doctor Who to celebrate Christmas. Not a bad option if you’re looking for comfort food to keep on in the background.

Doctor Who (BBC America), Monday 9 p.m. - “Twice Upon a Time”

It’s the week of Christmas, and as expected, it’s a slow one for genre programming. Pretty much the only fresh show to check out this night is Hulu’s excellent Marvel adaptation Runaways. If you’re not caught up it’s the perfect night for a binge. If you are caught up, catch the new episodes “Tsunami.”

The Librarians (TNT), Wednesday 8 p.m. - “And the Bleeding Crown,” “And the Grave of Time”

See more in our “Highlights” section above.

Vikings (History), Wednesday 9 p.m. - "The Message”

Lagertha is betrayed, and Bjorn must find a way to support the distraught queen. Meanwhile, Floki and his settlers arrive in a new land, but it is far from what they expected.

Happy! (SYFY), Wednesday 10 p.m. - “Year of the Horse”

See more in our “Highlights” section above.

Van Helsing (SYFY), Thursday 9 p.m. - “Crooked Falls”

While the rest of the group fight for survival, Axel and Scarlett defend a mountain stronghold against a relentless foe; at the same time, Doc makes a medical discovery that could change everything.

Ghost Wars (SYFY), Thursday 10 p.m. - “There's No More Room in Hell”

While Daphne gathers the power she needs to launch her accelerator test, civil unrest breaks out among the town when Paolo refuses to open the bar. The commotion evolves into mutiny as the mob pursues Roman, Landis, Jimmy and the McGrath-Dufresnes.

Beyond: What Lies Ahead (Freeform), Thursday 10:30 p.m.

A sneak peek at the second season of "Beyond," with behind-the-scenes secrets and an insider look at the making of the series. Included: remarks from the cast; and Season 2's new characters and storylines.

Josh Gates' Destination Truth (Travel), Friday 9 p.m. - “The Jersey Devil and Chinese Bigfoot”

Josh heads to New Jersey in search of a nocturnal winged creature that locals refer to as the Jersey Devil. Then, it's off to the mountains of China on the hunt for a Bigfoot-like monster called the Yeren.

Jurassic World (FX), Saturday 8 p.m.

See more in our “Highlights” section above.

Twilight Zone Marathon (SYFY), Sunday 3 a.m.

Jurassic Park Marathon (Spike), Sunday 10 a.m.

If you’re looking for some classic blockbusters to ring in the new year, you could do far worse than Spike’s Jurassic Park marathon. It’s also a nice reminder to be thankful you’re not starting 2018 being hunted by dinosaurs. If only Chris Pratt could be so lucky.

Bill & Ted Marathon (IFC), Sunday 7 p.m.

While you’re patiently waiting for the ball to drop, IFC has a double bill of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey on tap. You know, if you’re jonesing for a real rockin’ New Year.
