TV THIS WEEK: Enola Holmes premiere; The Simpsons returns; Star Trek: Discovery to CBS and more

By Trent Moore
The Simpsons

We already knew the shutdown and production stalls would make this an interesting fall season and we're starting to see that play out a bit more this week. From "old" shows finding new homes to fresh animated fare, here's what's happening on TV this week.

As far as premieres, Fox's animated slate of shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy is back with all new episodes this weekend. As for shows premiering in new places, CBS has the network debut of Season 1 of the CBS All Access original series Star Trek: Discovery (so if you've missed the show up until now, your chance to catch up has finally arrived). Fox is also getting in on the action, premiering the latest season of Cosmos: Possible Worlds (which already aired earlier this year on National Geographic).

On the streaming side, Netflix has the premiere of its new original film Enola Holmes (starring A-listers like Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill) and Amazon Prime has a brand new episode of its hit superhero send-up The Boys.

Digging deeper, AMC has a Walking Dead special, which promises previews and intel on what's next for the franchise; The CW has a new The 100; Cinemax has the network premiere of John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum; TBS has the network premiere of giant shark flick The Meg; and HBO has a new installment of its acclaimed high-brow horror tale Lovecraft Country.

Check out our full rundown below and let us know what you'll be watching.
