The story of Superman begins a whole lot sooner than we realized this week, as SYFY's new DC Comics series Krypton makes its long-awaited debut. The show tells a story about Supes' grandfather and his mission to stop Brainiac and protect his legacy to ensure Kal-El is eventually born.

The Krypton concept might seem like a strange pitch at first, but the introduction of Adam Strange and a time-travel hook really works to tie it together. Outside of that premiere, this week also brings us the season (series?) finale of The X-Files, and the pressure is certainly on for Chris Carter to land this ship in a way that will please fans. Especially since they really whiffed on the show's original series finale. Freeform's Shadowhunters is also returning for its new season this week.

Beyond the big premieres and finales, we also have a fresh Legends of Tomorrow, with Matt Ryan's John Constantine reprising his role to help out once Sara goes full-on evil; a new iZombie; a new Gotham; a new Walking Dead; and a new Black Lightning.
