The new year is upon us, and the TV schedule is loaded with marathons, specials and a few major geek premieres. From Doctor Who to Firefly, we have the full rundown.

If you're not inclined to check out the rockin' New Year's specials on network TV, there are plenty of geeky marathons to ring in 2019 right. There's Firefly, The Simpsons, and of course SYFY's beloved Twilight Zone marathon. The arguable highlight of New Year's programming is the Doctor Who special, which moved a week later from its usual home on Christmas Day. It's the last we'll see of The Doctor for a while, so be sure to enjoy it.

Looking a bit deeper into the week, Fox has the final season of Gotham kicking off, promising a full-on introduction of Batman by the time the finale fades to black. PBS is also firing us off into deep space with the season premiere of NOVA, which is digging into the New Horizon's mission. Along with Gotham, Fox's X-Men spinoff series The Gifted also returns from its midseason hiatus. CBS has a fresh Big Bang Theory as the final season winds forward, Fox has a new installment of The Orville, and Starz has a new Outlander.

Check out our full rundown below and let us know what you'll be watching.
