It’s a relatively light week, with the big story being the premiere of CBS’s new summer sci-fi-ish story Salvation — but there’s still enough new (and old) stuff out there to keep you out of the heat. Just trust us.

Salvation focuses on the imminent arrival of an asteroid that is on track to take out the Earth. Instead of just focusing on the action movie mission to stop it, it turns the spotlight on the fallout of that realization and a grand conspiracy (the asteroid is on it?). Guess we’ll just have to watch to find out. This week also brings us a new episode of AMC’s excellent Preacher, a new installment of Spike’s The Mist with a mystifying face-off, and some fresh sci-fi fare at Syfy with Killjoys, Wynonna Earp, Blood Drive and Dark Matter.

Check out our recommendations below, and be sure to set your DVR accordingly.
