We've hit May, which means most of our 2014-2015 regular season shows are either winding down or ending altogether, and this week that's very clear from all the season finales we have. We say goodbye to GothamPerson of InterestForeverOnce Upon a Time and Dig this week, but it's not all endings. We also have a first: the first showdown between Flash and Grodd!

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

Highlights of the Week

Gotham (FOX) Monday, 8 p.m. - "All Happy Families Are Alike"

Season finale! - Gotham arrived this season amid a growing crowd of other comic-book-inspired TV series, but from the beginning it set itself apart. It's not really a superhero show, or even a supervillain show. It's a show about a world that breeds such things, and as a result many fans worried right out of the gate if it could really sustain itself in that kind of prequel mode. Fox was pleased enough with the show's 2014 run to renew it in January, and though ratings have slipped a bit since then, the series remains a hit, particularly when you factor in its substantial DVR returns. The show also remains divisive among comic-book fans. It's proven that even a Batman-adjacent show can make it, but it's also driven some viewers to distraction with its constant easter eggs, hints and setups that never quite seem to pay off. Nevertheless, season two is coming, and with it will come things like the origin of the Joker, something that could divide viewers even more. For the moment, though, if you're a fan, just relax and enjoy the finale. Check out a preview below.

The Flash (CW) Tuesday, 8 p.m. - "Grodd Lives"

GRODD! - I've written before about how successful The Flash has been at embracing the comic-book craziness of its source material. We've seen crazy villains, crazy plots, crazy science and more, and it really feels like a comic-book show, but even with everything that's already happened on this series, it's kinda hard to believe we've arrived at this moment. This week, Gorilla Grodd and the Flash will battle in live action on a TV show broadcast by The CW. We already knew superhero media was taking over the world. We knew it because we got stuff like Rocket Raccoon on the big screen. But still, this is pretty amazing. Check out a preview below.

Forever (ABC) Tuesday, 10 p.m. - "The Last Death of Henry Morgan"

Season finale! - Forever's been an interesting wait-and-see case study this season. Its ratings weren't great from the start, but they were good enough that ABC opted for a full season order, and things just got worse from there. The show still isn't necessarily doomed, but as we near the time when ABC will make its final renewal decisions on the 2014-2015 season, viewer numbers are lower than ever for the series. Things don't look good, but hey, there's always a little hope right up until the announcement is made. This week, Henry prepares for a final showdown with Adam. Check out a preview below.

Person of Interest (CBS) Tuesday, 10 p.m. - "YHWH"

Season finale! - Person of Interest began its life as high-concept procedural of sorts, but over time it's evolved into a very rewarding and ever-expanding sci-fi drama with a complex mythos all its own. In many ways, that mythos has never been richer than in season four, and though viewer numbers aren't what they once were, they're certainly still strong. The show still rarely slips below 9 million viewers a week, which is an audience double that of timeslot competitor Forever, and odds are good season five is on the way. This week, Finch and Root race to save the machine, and Reese is caught in the middle of a showdown between Elias and Dominic. Check out a preview below.

Once Upon a Time (ABC) Sunday, 8 p.m. - "Operation Mongoose"

Season finale! - Once Upon a Time added plenty of new meat to its own mythology this season, expanding its roster of characters and its connection to other fairy tales for stories that took us from the characters of Frozen to Disney's classic evil queens. In terms of story, it definitely paid off for loyal fans, though in recent weeks viewer numbers have slipped to a pattern of lows that season three definitely didn't see. Even with those dips, though, the show is still pulling in more than 5 million live viewers every week, and odds are good that it'll be back for season five in the fall. Check out a preview of the finale below.
