We're definitely back in the swing of a busy TV schedule now. After several high-profile premieres last week, we get even more this week, including The Magicians and Lucifer. Plus, Team Venture is back!

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

Lucifer (FOX) Monday, 9 p.m. - "Pilot"

Series premiere! - The comic book shows just keep coming. Last year, we got the ratings disappointment that was Constantine, a supernatural comic book series that a lot of people loved, but that never quite seemed to find its place in the broadcast schedule. Now, we get Lucifer, another Vertigo Comics-inspired supernatural show that will attempt to join shows like Gotham and iZombie on the list of successful comic book shows that aren't really about superheroes. In this case, we get the story of the titular Lord of Hell (Tom Ellis) who basically gets bored with running his domain and decides to set up a Los Angeles nightclub, instead. To amuse himself, he teams up with a detective (Lauren German) and uses his abilities to expose desire and force people to speak the truth to confront sinners and solve crimes. Done right, it'll be a wickedly funny procedural with a little magic thrown in. Done wrong...well, let's just not think about that and be optimistic right now. Check out a preview below.

The Magicians (Syfy) Monday, 9 p.m. - "Unauthorized Magic" and "The Source of Magic"

Series premiere! - We're getting quite a few new genre shows over the course of 2016, but The Magicians is easily one of the most-anticipated. Based on the novels by Lev Grossman, the series takes a more mature look at what it's like to go to magic school, and has an added bit of meta-fictional intrigue in that a magical world from a beloved children's book turns out to be real. Grossman's novels garnered both massive acclaim and a massive fanbase, early looks at the show have been very promising, and there's the added shot at a new fantasy hit for Syfy. Check out a preview below.

You, Me and the Apocalypse (NBC) Thursday, 8 p.m. - "Who Are These People?"

Series premiere! - This week, another end-of-the-world style show hits TV, but You, Me and the Apocalypse doesn't work the same way that, say, The Last Man on Earth works. In this comedy series, which hit British TV a few months ago, we get to see the impending end of the world from several different perspectives, and then discover how all of these characters come to be together in a bunker in the U.K., waiting and watching as everything seems to be ending. It's got a great cast, an amusing premise, and a shot at being another must-see genre series for us. Check out a preview below.

The Vampire Diaries (CW) Friday, 8 p.m. - "Hell is Other People"

Midseason premiere! - A few years ago, The Vampire Diaries was the Crown Jewel of the CW, its ratings champion and its biggest fandom. These days, the network is more about superheroes, and since it's in the CW's best interest to get people to watch new series Legends of Tomorrow, that show now has The Vampire Diaries' prime Thursday night slot, which means the senior show (and its companion series The Originals) move to Friday for now. We often talk about Friday night as the place where shows go to die, but we've seen shows do very well there (see: Grimm), and it's not like either of these series are dying in the ratings. I don't highlight this to tell you The Vampire Diaries is dead, but I do think it serves as a symbol of where the CW is headed these days.

The Venture Brothers (TOON) Sunday, 12 a.m. - "Hostile Makeover"

Season premiere! - It almost felt like this moment would never come, but The Venture Brothers is finally back for Season 6...yes, the same Season 6 that was once upon a time going to premiere all the way back in 2014. Apart from one special that aired last year, we haven't seen a new episode of this series since the summer of 2013, but it's finally back this weekend (when I say 12 a.m., I actually mean 12 a.m. Monday, but close enough). It's on late, but it's finally on, so stay up or set you DVR and see what Team Venture's up to. Check out a preview below.
