The last couple of weeks have been a bit slow on the TV front, but the summer shows are beginning to arrive, and this week they arrive in force. In the next five days we get Sense8 finally landing on Netflix, The Whispers on ABC and Stitchers on ABC Family. Plus, Hannibal's back for Season 3, Adventure Time wraps up its season with a whole week of episodes, and much more.

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

Highlights of the Week

The Whispers (ABC) Monday, 10 p.m. - "X Marks the Spot"

Series premiere! - You might have noticed that spooky television is doing pretty well lately. The success of The Walking Dead and American Horror Story has spawned a new wave of horror TV, including everything from Penny Dreadful to The Strain to Salem. This week, ABC hopes to get into that game too, and though The Whispers doesn't look to be too extreme in its scares, it definitely has a spooky premise. In this show, a mysterious paranormal force is slowly invading the Earth, and it's doing it by gaining influence with the most vulnerable of humans: children. The "What if your imaginary friend were real?" idea in horror isn't new, but perhaps The Whispers can find some new things to say about it. Check out a preview below.

Community (Yahoo! Screen) Tuesday, Streaming - "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"

Season finale! - This time last year, we were wondering if there was a chance that we'd ever see another episode of Community, and now here we are at the end of a sixth season. The past few weeks have brought new characters, new developments in the lives of old characters and lots of new jokes, and it's been a fun ride, but now we're at the end of it, and with that comes another period of uncertainty. We got the six seasons, but will we get a movie? Or will we get a seventh season full of jokes about a movie we never saw? At this point, we just don't know, so let's savor one more Community story while we can.

Stitchers (ABC Family) Tuesday, 9 p.m. - "A Stitch in Time"

Series premiere! - ABC Family's originally programming is mostly known for its teen-driven dramas and family sitcoms, but they are venturing into genre programming, and Stitchers is the latest product of that. The series follows Kristen (Emma Ishta), a young woman recruited into a secret government agency to be a "stitcher," someone who access the minds of dead people and use their memories to solve crimes. Unfortunately for Stitchers, that premise sounds somewhat perilously similar to iZombie, but that doesn't make it redundant. This show is coming at the memories of the dead from a sci-fi angle, while iZombie is decidedly horror-inspired. Whether it can actually carry the premise remains to be seen, but we look forward to finding out. Check out a preview below.

Hannibal (NBC) Thursday, 10 p.m. - "Antipasto"

Season premiere! - Hannibal isn't supernatural horror, so we don't tend to cover it much, but it is one of the best shows on TV, so we're giving it a mention in our summer lineup. This week, Bryan Fuller's new take on Hannibal the Cannibal returns for Season 3 and will attempt to simultaneously adapt elements of Red Dragon and Hannibal into a single story. Hannibal is on the run in Europe, setting up in Florence under a fake identity. Will Graham and the rest of the FBI are still looking for him, but they also have to deal with a rising new serial killer: the Red Dragon, played by The Hobbit's Richard Armitage. Check out a preview below.

Sense8 (Netflix) Friday, Streaming - All Episodes

Series premiere! - We've been hearing all kinds of crazy things about Sense8 -- the new series from the Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski -- for a while now, and this week we finally get to see how all of that comes together. In case you haven't been paying attention, the show follows eight people who are "sensates." They all have the ability to essentially access each other's minds, granting them perceptions and abilities they wouldn't otherwise have, but this strange power carries with it the threat of being hunted. The show has an intriguing and diverse cast, a mysterious premise that we're hoping will unfold in satisfying ways and the promise of the Wachowskis trying long-form storytelling basically for the first time since The Matrix Trilogy. Check out a preview below.
