Big summer events just keep coming this week on TV. We get the premiere of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, the second season of Rick and Morty, the finale of Wayward Pines, and much more.

Highlights of the Week

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! (Syfy) Wednesday, 8 p.m.

Original Movie premiere! - Syfy's original movies focusing on crazy creatures are nothing new but, in 2013, the trend caught fire with Sharknado, a primetime movie that caught ratings fire and generated a huge social media presence. In light of that, a sequel had to follow, and because that sequel was also successful, the third installment is also on the way this week. Now, we get to find out if a third installment will also generate ratings gold. Check out a preview below.

Wayward Pines (FOX) Thursday, 9 p.m. - "Cycle"

Season finale! - If you only paid attention to the live ratings from the FOX event series Wayward Pines, you might consider it only a moderately successful show. However, the show's DVR ratings have given it a lot of steam over the course of its run, and as a result it's a clear hit for FOX. Initially, the show was planned only as a single limited series event, adapted from a series of novels, but reports have surfaced over the last few weeks that FOX might be considering a renewal now that the show is pulling in so many viewers. So, it seems we might not see the end of Wayward Pines this week after all. Check out a preview below.

Aquarius and Hannibal (NBC) Saturday, 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. - "I'm Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and "The Great Red Dragon"

Last week, NBC decided to shuffle two of its Thursday series off to Saturday, but what's interesting is how different these shows' fates seem to be. Aquarius, the crime drama starring David Duchovny, was renewed a few weeks ago by the network, but Hannibal, the crime drama created by Bryan Fuller, was recently cancelled. Still, they're both getting the Saturday treatment as the summer progresses. Does this mean Aquarius is in the same trouble Hannibal was? It doesn't seem likely, but this is still an interesting network move.

Battlebots (ABC) Sunday, 8 p.m. - "One Bot Rules Them All: The Championship"

Season finale! - Earlier this year, fans of robot fights everywhere were pleased to see a revival under the Battlebots moniker, and the show has so far garnered solid viewer numbers. Now, we have to wait to see if the series will actually live to see another season of this revival concept. This week, the finalists battle it out for the championship.

Rick and Morty (TOON) Sunday, 11:30 p.m. - "A Rickle in Time"

Season premiere! - Over the last year-and-a-half, Rick and Morty has built a consistent critical and fan following thanks to its rather grown-up approach to sci-fi cartoons, and this week it's back for its much-anticipated  second season. Sadly, we don't yet know the future of Community, but co-creator Dan Harmon is still delivering brilliant stories through this series. Check out a preview below.
