September finally arrives this week, but we're still not quite at the point of a flood of series premieres. That doesn't mean we're without events, though. We've got plenty of finales this week, including the end of The Whispers, plus there's a half-hour preview of the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series.

The Whispers (ABC) Monday, 10 p.m. - "Game Over"

Season finale! The Whispers ends this week, and we still don't know if it has a future. Back in June, ABC let the cast's contract options expire, though the show was still putting up solid numbers when DVR viewers were factored in, and the critical reception has been sound. At this point, it's hard to tell if ABC will bring the show back, but at least there's a finale to look forward to. This week, the team tries to stop Drill's potentially deadly endgame.

Scream (MTV) Tuesday, 10 p.m. - "Revelations"

Season finale! - Scream started as the latest attempt to bring a successful film property to TV, and plenty of people (myself included) weren't sure that it would work. Over the course of its first season, though, the show has developed its own unique take on the classic slasher movie deconstruction franchise, and it's become a hit for MTV. Now the only question is whether the second season can deliver like the first one did. This week, the killer is finally revealed.

Mr. Robot (USA) Wednesday, 10 p.m. - "eps1.9zer0-daY.avi"

Season finale! - The final episode of Mr. Robot's first season was supposed to air last week, but to plot similarities that tied it to the tragic shootings in Virginia, USA decided to postpone it, so we're getting it this week instead. The show's already headed for a second season thanks to the great reception the pilot recieved across platforms, and thanks to almost universal critical acclaim. This show proved to be the most fascinating new series of the summer, so we'll see it again next year. This week, Elliot is haunted by one of his past hacks, and Mr. Robot is missing.

Guardians of the Galaxy (Disney XD) Saturday, 9 p.m. - "Road to Knowhere"

Series preview! - The much-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy animated series doesn't premiere until later in September, but Disney XD has given us no shortage of previews. After a few weeks of shorts devoted to each member of the team, this week we get our first taste of the animated Guardians teaming up, as a new ally of Thanos tries to get hold of an artificat in their possession.

MythBusters (Discovery) Saturday, 9 p.m. - "Star Wars: The Myths Strike Back"

Star Wars Special! - The MythBusters crew has taken on the science of Star Wars before, but since this is the year that we're getting a brand-new film from a galaxy far, far away, they're trying again with a look at the science of stormtrooper shooting and more.
