Alcatraz (Fox) 8 p.m. - "Pilot" and "Ernest Cobb"

Series premiere! In this new series from J.J. Abrams, in the 1960s 302 prisoners and guards mysteriously vanished from Alcatraz prison. The event was covered up and the prison was closed. Cut to today. When a San Francisco detective, Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones), begins investigating a murder, she ends up with an impossible suspect, a prison inmate from Alcatraz named Jack Sylvane (Jeffrey Pierce) who's supposedly been dead for decades but who's looking pretty lively and hasn't aged a day. Madsen joins forces with Alcatraz expert Dr. Diego "Doc" Soto (Jorge Garcia) as they try to track down Sylvane, only to learn that he isn't the only vicious criminal to somehow escape Alcatraz into the future. The series also stars Sam Neill as mysterious government agent Emerson Hauser, and Parminder Nagra as Hauser's associate, Lucy Banerjee.
