TV THIS WEEK: Being Human debuts, Fringe goes to Friday and more!

Several new series premiere or return this week, giving us plenty of original material to look forward to. Syfy's version of Being Human finally arrives, along with the Cartoon Network's animated Young Justice and Starz's Spartacus: Gods of the Arena. And after seven seasons, Medium signs off with a big finale.

We also get the return of NBC's Chuck, which sees our favorite spy trying to get romantic with Sarah, and Fringe brings back the Observers for its Friday premiere. And Orwell's identity is investigated on The Cape, Warehouse 13's Joanne Kelly guest-stars on No Ordinary Family, Erica goes all Jack Bauer while interrogating a Visitor on V, it's a road trip on The Big Bang Theory, Gaius gets possessed by a goblin on Merlin, and a vicious therocephalian goes after some students on Primeval.

Monday, Jan. 17

Chuck (NBC) 8 p.m. - "Chuck Versus the Balcony"

Chuck's back with new episodes! While Chuck and the team attempt to find a nanochip in the vineyards of France, he plots romance with Sarah. Elsewhere, Lester turns to Big Mike for romantic advice.

The Cape (NBC) 9 p.m. - "Kozmo"

An old friend of Max's hunts for the Cape. Meanwhile, Dana goes back to work at the public defender's office, and Peter and Marty try to figure out Orwell's true identity.

Being Human (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "There Goes the Neighborhood, Part 1"

Series premiere! In part one of two, when a vampire and a werewolf decide to move in together, they discover their new house is haunted by the ghost of their landlord's fiancée.

Tuesday, Jan. 18

No Ordinary Family (ABC) 8 p.m. - "No Ordinary Detention"

Guest-star alert! Warehouse 13's Joanne Kelly plays an Internal Affairs officer investigating a cop who might be crooked. However, after she arrives the precinct is raided by criminals, and Jim's left to figure out how to save his colleagues without revealing his superpowers. Meanwhile, Katie and Stephanie try to help an ill Joshua at the lab and discover something's up with human resources executive Victoria Morrow (Rebecca Mader).

V (ABC) 9 p.m. - "Laid Bare"

Looks like we might find out what the Vs really look like under that skin, as Erica and her group interrogate Agent Malik. Meanwhile, Lisa begins undergoing physical changes, and Anna sends Ryan to locate Malik after she goes missing.

On the season-two premiere of PBS's Pioneers of Television (8 p.m.), the subject is "Science Fiction," as three sci-fi TV legends are profiled, including Gene Roddenberry, Rod Serling and Irwin Allen. And if you missed it the first time, AMC is rerunning all six episodes of The Walking Dead over Tuesday and Wednesday nights, beginning at 8 p.m.

Wednesday, Jan. 19

Ghost Hunters International (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Unfaithful Spirit: Germany"

The team travels to Germany to investigate a castle that may be haunted by a knight's unfaithful wife.

Thursday, Jan. 20

The Big Bang Theory (CBS) 8 p.m. - "The Love Car Displacement"

The gang goes on a road trip. Meanwhile, Howard gets jealous when he meets Bernadette's oh-so-tall-and-impressive ex (basketball pro Rick Fox). There's good news on the Big Bang front. CBS has just renewed the comedy for an additional three years.

Friday, Jan. 21

Young Justice (Cartoon Network) 7 p.m. - "Welcome to Happy Harbor"

New series! Don't call them sidekicks! Pop star Jesse McCartney voices the role of Robin, the Boy Wonder, in this animated series about the next generation of superheroes, who put together a team of their own that includes Superboy, Kid Flash and Aqualad.

Medium (CBS) 8 p.m. - "Me Without You"

Series finale! In its seventh season, Medium comes to a close as things change forever for the DuBois family after Allison becomes a lawyer and Joe finds himself on a new career path. Goodbye Medium!

Fringe (Fox) 9 p.m. - "The Firefly"

Fringe moves to Fridays! Back to the Future's Christopher Lloyd guest-stars as Roscoe Joyce, the keyboardist of Walter's favorite '70s band, and they uncover some amazing parallels in their lives. Meanwhile, the Observers are back, and one of them wants the Fringe team to reverse a critical error. This is Fringe's final chance to find an audience, so watch it, people!

Merlin (Syfy) 10 p.m. - "Goblin's Gold"

Gaius gets possessed by a goblin after Merlin accidentally releases it from a secret chamber, which causes chaos at court as Gaius develops a lust for gold, ale and magical jokes.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (Starz) 10 p.m. - "Past Transgressions"

Series premiere! In this prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Batiatus is put in command of his father's gladiator-training school, and we get to see how things evolved over at the House of Batiatus.

On the Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars (8:30 p.m.), there's a new episode called "Witches of the Mist." On Disney's The Wizards of Waverly Place (8 p.m.), Alex gets jealous when Jerry begins spending time with Maxine. And on the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures (9 p.m.), the team hunts for ghosts at Nevada's Bonnie Springs Ranch, a tourist attraction that was built in 1843.

Saturday, Jan. 22

Primeval (BBC America) 9 p.m. - "Episode 4"

Matt attempts to help the mystery woman find the murderous member of her group, while the team tries to save a group of students stuck in a Saturday detention from a vicious therocephalian that's loose in their school.
