While there's not much reason to turn on the TV this week, there is one significant sci-fi event. Christmas Day brings Doctor Who's annual Christmas special, which will introduce his newest companion and see the return of a few familiar faces. Other than that, we have the season finale of Dark Matters: Twisted but True, a K9 Christmas marathon, Bigfoot and a bunch of ghost stuff.

Here's what we have to look forward to this week on sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal TV.

It's a Wonderful Life (NBC) 8 p.m.

Christmas and classics (and Christmas classics) abound on this Christmas Eve, with everything from Miracle on 34th Street to Home Alone to E.T. to Bad Santa. But my favorite is still the original 1946 classic It's a Wonderful Life from Frank Capra with James Stewart, Donna Reed and Henry Travers as Clarence Oddbody, Angel Second Class.
