TV THIS WEEK: Terra Nova ends with a bang, Doctor Who and more!

There are two big finales this week as Terra Nova and American Horror Story finish out their freshman seasons, plus we get a very merry Doctor Who Christmas special.

Besides that, there's not a heck of a lot to look forward to except a new Chuck, which features Stan Lee, and Sanctuary's penultimate episode, which launches its two-part season finale.

Here's what we have to look forward to this week on sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal TV.

Monday, Dec. 19

Terra Nova (Fox) 8 p.m. - "Occupation/Resistance"

Two-hour season-one finale! The 11th Pilgrimage arrives at Terra Nova. Meanwhile, Lucas and the Phoenix Group (aka the new bad guys) implement their plans for the past, while Taylor and Jim join forces to stop them. And yes, someone is going to die. Fox has not yet decided if there will be a second season for Terra Nova. What do you think? Is it worthy of a second season?

American Horror Story (FX) 10 p.m. - "Afterbirth"

Season-one finale! It's hard to imagine things could get any freakier for this series, but I still suspect somehow the freak level will rise for the finale. In the episode, Constance plots to find a way to raise Tate's baby as her own. Considering the body count, it will be interesting to see how the producers approach American Horror Story's second season next year.

Thursday, Dec. 22

The Truth Behind (NGC) 10 p.m. - "Atlantis"

The episode takes look at the legend of Altantis and whether it might be historical fact or ancient fiction. Underwater explorer Robert Carmichael searches the ocean for clues to what might have happened to the island.

Friday, Dec. 23

Chuck (NBC) 8 p.m. - "Chuck Versus the Santa Suit"

Stan Lee alert! Yep, we get a fun Christmas present from the Chuck producers when comic-book god Stan Lee pops up as himself, if a Chuck version of himself. It seems in the Chuck-verse, Lee was also a spy, and he has a past with General Beckman. Meanwhile, the team tries to stop the Omen virus, and an enemy from Chuck's past resurfaces. Brandon Routh guest-stars.

Here's a preview:

Sanctuary (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Sanctuary for None"

Part one of a two-part season-four finale! Magnus attempts to negotiate a peace between Caleb's insurgents and the governments on the surface. Meanwhile, Will finds himself in a difficult position when Addison reactivates his federal commission and Tesla returns. Syfy hasn't renewed Sanctuary for a fifth season, so this could be the beginning of the end, with only one more original episode left.

Doctor Who: Best of the Christmas Specials (BBC America) 8 p.m.

Special! Highlights from the Christmas specials.

Here's a look:

The Nerdist: Year in Review (BBC America) 9 p.m.

Special! What's your favorite moment from Doctor Who in 2011? Host Chris Hardwick and his gang of nerds delve into their favorite moments from the year. And you might want to stay around for The Graham Norton Show's "Season 10 Christmas Special," which features the Doctor himself, Matt Smith.

Here's a sneak peek:

Sunday, Dec. 25 - Merry Christmas

Doctor Who (BBC America) 9 p.m. - "The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe"

The Christmas special! After last night, when BBC America teased us continually about the upcoming Christmas special, it's finally here. In the 1940s, the Doctor gets involved with a woman and her children who've been evacuated to an old house in Dorset. The special runs 80 minutes long.
