There is sad news for Twin Peaks fans today, as actress Pamela Gidley has died at the age of 52.
The news of her passing was confirmed by the Associated Press, which reports that her death was announced in an obituary on Sunday. Gidley died on April 16 in Seabrook, New Hampshire. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Gidley was best known for her work in David Lynch's 1992 film prequel to Twin Peaks, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, in which she played Teresa Banks. Though her character had been referenced many times in the television series (as the focus of one of Special Agent Dale Cooper's former investigations), the prequel film was the first time that we actually saw the character.
Gidley also appeared as a part of Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces, as well as the films Cake Boy, The Little Vampire, Mafia!, and Thrashin'. Her television work included recurring roles on The Pretender and CSI.
Tributes to the actress poured in on social media, most notably from John Brolin (her co-star in Thrashin'), and from Twin Peaks actress Sherilyn Fenn.
