Twin Peaks has been on my mind a lot lately. I wasn't sure why until it occurred to me—it's the fault of all those promos for the new ABC series Happy Town, which have been teasing me on a daily basis with Twin Peaks-esque mysteries.
But then I made an eerie discovery—Twin Peaks has been on my mind for a far stranger reason than that. Because it turns out that series' pilot episode first aired 20 years ago today, back on April 8, 1990.
When Happy Town debuts on April 28, will it introduce us to a puzzle as riveting as that of "Who killed Laura Palmer"? It's far too soon to tell. But until then, let's turn back the clock 20 years and remember how David Lynch's surreal small-town murder mystery began.
