This year marks the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, and Universal Pictures has been teasing in a tweet that something (the future) is coming in 2015. And what would that be, exactly?
Well, that’s still a mystery, because the tweet simply says: The future is coming. #BTTF2015. Mysterious much? Have a look:
Back in 2010, the original Back to the Future flick saw a limited 25th-anniversary theatrical re-release in the U.K. and the U.S. in October, to go along the release of the 25th-anniversary DVD and Blu-ray disc editions of the trilogy. Can we expect something along the same line for this year? We don't know what Universal has planned for sure yet, but we do know that there will be books and fan celebrations, at the very least.
Here's what Bob Gale — co-writer of Back to the Future with director Robert Zemeckis — said to Yahoo, promising that 2015 would recognize the franchise in some way:
We’ve got some books in the works, and some fan celebrations. And I hope some other things are going to come to fruition. We’re definitely going to celebrate it, not only because the original movie is 30 years old, but also because Part II takes place in October 2015, so there are a lot of people looking at that angle, saying how accurately, or inaccurately, did these guys predict the future. It’s amazing how people still love that movie as much as they do, maybe even more than it when it came out.
What do you guys think these celebrations could include? How would you go about celebrating the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future?
