“It takes a monster to defeat a monster.” – Dr. Henry Jekyll, aka Mr. Hyde

We’re a month away from the hotly anticipated premiere of The Mummy, and to whet our appetite for the monster movie, Universal Pictures has released a final action-packed trailer featuring some new scenes peppered in with a (surprising) dose of humor.

The Mummy stars Tom Cruise as Nick Morton, a man chosen for mysterious reasons by the movie’s evil titular mummy, Princess Ahmanet (Star Trek Beyond’s Sofia Boutella). Starring alongside Cruise are Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (Terminator Genisys) and Oscar-winner Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek) from a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange), The Mummy will kick off Universal’s shared monster universe and unwrap onto movie theaters on June 9. Have a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
