Universal’s The Mummy reboot may have finally found its titular mummy in Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Boutella is currently in talks to play the role of a female mummy (this was rumored back in October), while Tom Cruise is on Universal's most-wanted list (and is in negotiations) to star in the modern-day-set movie. Besides that, plot details are being kept, well, under wraps.

The Mummy is the first in a series of interconnected movies set in a shared universe a la the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Characters from Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, The Invisible Man and Bride of Frankenstein are all part of Universal’s big plans for their classic monster movie franchise.

A classically trained dancer, Boutella got her big break as the villainous blade-legged assassin in Kingsman before landing a major role in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, directed by Justin Lin, and spy thriller The Coldest City, starring Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. Universal has refused to comment on THR’s report.

Universal’s The Mummy reboot will be helmed by Alex Kurtzman, with a script by Jon Spaihts. It has a release date of March 24, 2017.

What do you think? Would you like to see Sofia Boutella as the new Mummy?
