Disney has parked on the roof and slid down the chimney to deliver the final trailer for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Directed by Lasse Hallström (A Dog's Purpose) and Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger), the upcoming holiday movie is a fantastical retelling of E. T. A. Hoffmann's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and the subsequent ballet written by Tchaikovsky.
The screenplay was based on a story by Ashleigh Powell and written by Powell and Tom McCarthy (Spotlight).
The plot follows young Clara, (Interstellar's Mackenzie Foy), who discovers four magical realms created by her mother. With her mom no longer in the picture, Clara becomes the ruler of said realms and must protect the three good ones from the nefarious Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren).
Watch the final trailer below:
Morgan Freeman (Drosselmeyer), Keira Knightley (Sugar Plum Fairy), Eugenio Derbez (Flower Realm King), Matthew Macfadyen (Mr. Stahlbaum), Richard E. Grant (Snow Realm King), Misty Copeland (The Ballerina), Miranda Hart (Dew Drop Fairy), Ellie Bamber (Louise), and Jack Whitehall (Harlequin) make up the rest of the cast.
As we've said before, Disney is really striving to capture the whismy of the holiday season with a Fantasia-esque adventure that will be both eye-popping and surreal.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms arrives under the Christmas tree Nov. 2.
