The first season of Lana and Lilly Wachowski's Sense8 was a meandering mind-trip of psychosexual proportions, and the upcoming continuation appears to fall further into the mystery of the strange psychic vision shared by our eight afflicted protagonists around the globe.
The new launch trailer for the sophomore season reveals sensates preparing for battle against Whispers as he attempts to slowly track them down. Besides their impending faceoff with a second group of sensates, there's a cool nod to the Wachowskis' 2005 alt-history sci-fi flick, V for Vendetta, with a geeky glimpse of a character wearing the familiar Guy Fawkes mask.
Sense8 Season 2 rolls out via Netflix on May 5 and stars Toby Onwumere, Tina Desai, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Jamie Clayton, Tuppence Middleton, Donna Bae, Brian J. Wright, Max Riemel and Terrence Mann.
Here's the official synopsis:
From Lana Wachowski, Grant Hill and J. Michael Straczynski, Sense8 is centered around eight characters, from different parts of the world, who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by the experience. They become connected, able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, with access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must the eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out why their lives are now in jeopardy. In Season 2, dark forces continue to track the cluster of eight connected characters. The sensates will learn more about BPO, the secret organization searching for their cluster and others like them, and will work to protect themselves from this organization that is out to hunt and kill them.
