STX Entertainment has debuted eight stunning new character posters for Luc Besson’s upcoming space opera Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

The posters offer a look at Dane DeHaan as the film’s titular hero, Valerian, Cara Delevingne as Laureline, Rhianna as Bubble, as well as various alien creatures and robots seen in the trailer including: Doghan Daguis, K-Tron, Omelite, Melo and The Pearls.

Written and directed by Luc Besson (The Fifth Element), Valerian is based on the French graphic novels Valérian and Laureline written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières (Fun Fact: Mézières worked as a conception designer on The Fifth Element) between 1967 and 2010. Now that's a pretty long run for the creative duo.

The movie also stars Clive Owen (King Arthur) as Commander Arün Filitt, John Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock and Rutger Hauer. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will blast into movie theaters on July 21. Dig into the gallery below, and chime in with your thoughts. Will you be seeing Luc Besson's next sci-fi opus?
