Yesterday was Independence Day, and to celebrate America’s B-day, Sony Pictures (which distributes the film) released a trailer for its bloody Civil War meets Bloodsuckers movie, Vampire Wars.
Formerly titled Dead South, the movie is directed by Craig Ross Jr. (Bones, Numb3rs) and penned by Jerry Quickley (Fighting Words). It stars Matthew Marsden (Resident Evil: Extinction), Samuel Hunt (Empire), John Savage (The Deer Hunter, Hair), Elizabeth McLaughlin (Hand of God), Ray Stoney (Under the Dome) and V.J. Foster (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull).
Taking place in the wake of the American Civil War, the movie sees “two vampires rise and fight to reclaim their land from the inhabitants of a sleepy Southern town.”
While watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but think of True Blood’s Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), who was turned (aka became a vampire) during the Civil War … I’m sure he would have felt right at home in Vampire Wars. If you’re intrigued by the trailer, the movie is currently available on YouTube, iTunes and Amazon, so bite in.
