Van Helsing is primed to scare up even more thrills: The SYFY supernatural action series has been renewed for Season 3, SYFY WIRE has confirmed. Which means that Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton) will be back to kick ass, take names, and turn vampires as the monster-hunting mania continues for a third year after the second season ends on January 4.
The series, which premiered in July 2016, has staked its claim on post-apocalyptic fun with plenty of crazy creatures and legendary bloodlines. Van Helsing is immune to vampires' bites, so she naturally leads the charge against them with plenty of human companionship (and which becomes the series’ most delightful pleasure... besides all the slaying). Showrunner and writer Neil LaBute will return for more "long-buried secrets about the Rising, the Van Helsing heritage, and the survival of humankind itself," a press release said.
"I couldn't be happier to learn that SYFY has renewed Van Helsing for a Season 3 — it has been a wonderful journey thus far, but we have much more of the Van Helsing saga to tell before we’re through,” said LaBute. LaBute continued saying, “Expect blood to be spilled and characters to die screaming while the fate of humanity slips closer and closer to the edge of true chaos and utter darkness." Nice.
Production on the new 13-episode season is expected to begin in February 2018. Meanwhile, Season 2 is still going strong. Oh man, is Julius really dead? Is Vanessa going to get out of that creepy lab? And what's going on with Sam and Mohamad? The saga continues Thursdays at 9PM on SYFY!
