SYFY's own Van Helsing, fresh off its naming of Jonathan Walker as Neil LaBute's replacement showrunner, is dropping some serious intel about its fourth season. The gender-bending vampire-hunting adventure series showcases Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton) as she tries to suss out vampires (and their goals for humanity/the world) in the modern day. And there are a lot of complicated rituals and various stages of undeath involved. Pay attention.

SYFY WIRE attended the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel, which saw a crowded crew including stars (Kelly Overton, who called in remotely; Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Neal McDonough, Jennifer Cheon Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Aleks Paunovic, Keeya King, and Nicole Munoz), executive producers (Chad Oakes and Michael Frislev), and Walker. That stacked panel discussed plenty, including details about the show's upcoming 13 new episodes in Season 4. They also screened a sneak peek of the premiere.

Helfer is playing Dracula in the new season, but the roles of King and Munoz had been so far undisclosed. That all changed today, when Munoz was revealed to be playing Jack, while King's role was said to be Violet — who's the daughter of Neal McDonough's Boss. Both actresses explained that their characters are going to get in lots of fights. But then everyone stopped paying attention when they dropped the new trailer.

Season 4's trailer was full of bites, horns, explosions, rituals, and a deliciously ironic quote about cutting down on the killing. Yeah, that doesn't work out at all. Guts are ripped out and things are looking very, very crazy for both the Boss and the Dark One — especially as McDonough described himself as the Bride of Dracula. But that's nothing Vanessa and her new allies can't handle. And wait, what did Violet ask Boss about? Does "she" know "what" she is? Sounds like some new mythology is on its way to the show, or at least one of its female characters.

A final sizzle reel documented some of the goriest action scenes of the upcoming season, including a nasty graveyard fight involving Sam and an insanely brutal arena where all sorts of characters are throwing down -- including Violet and the character played by pro wrestler Big Show. Full buckets of blood are spilled.

Van Helsing returns for Season 4 this fall.
