Venom wants to be your team's new mascot in hilariously terrifying ESPN crossover

We didn't think there could be a scarier sports mascot than the newly-announced Gritty of the Philadelphia Flyers, but we were wrong. Tom Hardy's Venom has Gritty good and beat.

The Marvel anti-hero shows up in a new ESPN commercial, in which former NFL players Randy Moss and Charles Woodson are looking to find a new and scary mascot. Those gathered in the conference room are rather lackluster, so they bring in Eddie Brock (a Hardy that was obviously stiched into the scene at a later date).

All the gathered hopefuls laugh at this seemingly regular fella until Woodson prompts Brock to, "show us what you got." Eddie's eyes turn black and he transforms into Venom, closing the door to the conference room so there can be no escape from the now-terrified mascots, on whom he intends to feed.

Watch the spot below:

At the end, Woodson and Moss are the only two left alive. Creeping up from behind the wooden table, Moss says, "Well, it's a 'yes' for me, Charles."

Directed by Zombieland's Ruben FleischerVenom will be released in theaters on Oct. 5. Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Woody Harrelson, and Ron Cephas Jones make up the supporting cast.
