Veteran sound designer Ben Burtt talks Star Wars, E.T. in vintage interview clip

A vintage 9+ minute featurette with veteran sound designer Ben Burtt has surfaced, where he talks about his work on Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T. and several more projects. Burtt created many of the most famous sounds in Star Wars, from the lightsaber hum to the blaster gun blast, Darth Vader’s breathing and the “voice” of R2-D2.

We’ve been parroting these “beeps” and “blams” ever since we were kids, and Burtt is the guy who birthed them out of nothing but imagination. He also, more recently, “voiced” WALL-E. For his contributions to cinema lore, Burtt has also won four Academy Awards.
