History has released a first Season 5 trailer for their hit drama series Vikings as well as revealing at San Diego Comic-Con when the show will make its eagerly anticipated return.
Mark your calendars and set up your Google alerts for Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 9 p.m., when Vikings finally returns with a two-hour season premiere.
Speaking to Coming Soon, Senior Vice President of Scripted Programming Arturo Interian said: “Vikings is about bold storytelling. When Michael Hirst told us his epic plans for the season premiere, we needed two hours to tell it properly. Season 5 is taking our Vikings to uncharted lands we’ve never seen on the series before.”
Looks like those uncharted lands will include Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) going to the Sahara Desert and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) landing in Iceland! Joining the cast for Season 5 is Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors, Dracula) as the warrior bishop, Heahmund. Take an axe to this synopsis before hacking away at the trailer below:
Season five begins with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) asserting his leadership over the Great Heathen Army, while Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) reigns as Queen of Kattegat. Ivar’s murder of his brother Sigurd (David Lindström) sets the stage for vicious battles to come as Ragnar’s sons plot their next moves after avenging their father’s death. Bjorn follows his destiny into the Mediterranean Sea and Floki who is suffering from the loss of his wife Helga, takes to the seas submitting himself to the will of the Gods. This season is full of startling alliances and unbelievable betrayals as the Vikings fight to rule the world.
