Vin Diesel gives biggest hint yet about his mysterious Marvel role

Vin Diesel hasn’t been shy about letting everyone know he’s meeting with Marvel about a mysterious new role, but he might’ve just let the cat out of the bag.

A social media guru, Diesel keeps fans more than apprised about his career via his Facebook page (which is actually where he first broke word he was meeting with Marvel to begin with).

With everything from Guardians of the Galaxy to Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man in the pipeline, the options were pretty much limitless — leaving fans to ponder where the heck he might fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, consider the options heavily narrowed down.

Diesel recently posted (then removed) a picture that leaves little question in regard to what those meetings have been about:

Yep, keen-eyed readers — that is Groot, the ass-kicking tree-like member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

It’s admittedly a bit strange for this casting news to come out after shooting on the James Gunn-directed flick has already begun, but considering that Groot will most likely be handled largely with CGI and voice acting, it makes sense that they’d have a little more time to put this deal together.

Shortly after Diesel’s post went live, Deadline reported the actor is in active negotiations with Marvel about the role, though it isn’t a lock just yet. It may not be a done deal, but considering Diesel’s apparent enthusiasm, it’s pretty likely he’ll be joining up with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and the rest of the gang soon enough.

Do you think Diesel is a good fit for the role, or would you rather seen him elsewhere (or not at all) in the Marvel Universe?
