Vin Diesel took to Instagram over the weekend to announce that there will be not only a new Riddick movie coming our way, but also a TV series set in the same universe.

The movie will be the fourth entry in the popular sci-fi franchise that began with Pitch Black in 2000, followed by The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004 and Riddick in 2013. Diesel also revealed the new movie will be titled Furia. The actor shared that it's currently in development, with David Twohy set to begin writing the script in December. No further details were offered, but my spidey senses are tingling and I have a feeling Riddick will be heading back to his home planet. (I also wonder if there's an itsy-bitsy spelling error in the movie's title, since the name of Richard B. Riddick's home planet has previously been spelled Furya?)

The awesome news was unveiled because the Fast & Furious and Guardians of the Galaxy star was celebrating the launch of One Race Films’ television division by announcing a spinoff TV series titled Merc City, which will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters in the Riddick universe. Check it out:

Are you excited for Furia, the next Riddick movie? What do you think about getting a new TV show set in the Riddick universe and featuring Mercs and Bounty Hunters? Think we could see the return of Matt Nable’s Boss Johns, or Katee Sackhoff’s Dahl?
