The fan film universe proves there are some incredibly talented folks out there who can tell a captivating story without a monster budget.

Here's the first teaser for Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, a new, unofficial, non-profit Harry Potter film from Tryangle Films, and it looks spellbinding. It delves into the mysterious events of the House Elf Scandal mentioned in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and it dramatizes how the disturbed young wizard, Tom Riddle, gathered up the Horcruxes to offer himself invincible protection. The narrative picks up in 1943, after Riddle's graduation from Hogwarts, and follows his dark path after leaving his job at Borgin and Burkes. Written and directed by Gianmarie Pezzato, the production values and SFX are top-notch, and Tryangle is planning on releasing the film on YouTube this fall after more fundraising is completed.

Here's the official synopsis:

What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back? There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: the rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise.

Have a look at tell us if it you think Voldemort: Origins of the Heir is a worthy effort for inclusion in the extended Potterverse.
