UPDATE: Kate Mulgrew has issued a statement about her participation in The Principle on her Facebook page. You can read it here.

Hey! Did you know that the Earth, despite all scientific evidence to the contrary, is actually the center of the universe? It's true! And by "true," I actually mean "probably not even remotely true in any way possible."

But we're here talking about this anyway because, for some (monetary) reason, Captain Katherine Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew, is narrating this documentary, The Principle, which posits the theory that Earth rests at the heart of all creation.

“Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong,” is how Mulgrew begins. Then "scientists" talk about how things "don't add up" and "blah blah blah I'M A CRAZY PERSON."

That third one is probably not actually part of the documentary, but it sure should be.

Plenty of former starship captains have narrated science specials about the cosmos, space travel, stars and all the other heavenly bodies, but we think Mulgrew has laid claim to the first time one of those actors has ever been part of a documentary that's nostalgic enough to bring back pre-Copernicus-grade science.

Good for her. I hope they're paying her really, really well. And if anyone's looking for a dude with a high-pitched whiny voice to narrate their movie about lizard people and the Freemasons, I'm available.
