We’d recently heard Captain America fan favorite Hayley Atwell would be returning to the big screen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but exactly how will Cap’s first love pop back up?

Though she’s getting ready to star in the upcoming TV spinoff Agent Carter, Atwell most recently turned up in prosthetics as old-lady Peggy in the modern-day sequel Captain America: Winter Soldier. When word broke she’d have a part in Age of Ultron, we assumed she’d be donning the old-lady look — but Atwell told MTV she “left the prosthetics” at home. Hmm.

So what does that mean? Apparently we’ll be seeing the younger version of Peggy Carter in Age of Ultron, which points to a potential flashback to Cap’s early days or even a dream sequence. Or maybe something quirkier, such as some video footage from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s early days, as a tie-in for Atwell's new ABC series.

What we’d like it to be? Life Model Decoy, perhaps? Or, ooh, time travel! Sorry, we digress. But on a serious note, perhaps Atwell is the mysterious fourth female character director Joss Whedon was so high on when talking up the Avengers sequel?

Regardless, we’re huge Atwell fans, so it’s awesome to hear she’ll get another spot on the big screen in the biggest Marvel movie yet.

But back to Agent Carter — Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito noted they never thought the original short film could spawn a TV series, until the Disney higher-ups saw it and fell in love with the concept. Here’s how he explained it (before literally running away from Doctor Strange casting rumor questions):

“You never know where it’s going to go, and it wasn’t our agenda when we made the one shot that it was going to turn into a television show. We just wanted to tell a great story featuring Hayley Atwell, and once we showed it to the heads at Disney, they recognized ‘You know what guys, we see what you find so special, and we should make a television show.’ That’s why we’re here now.”

Check out a clip of the interview below, and let us know how you think Joss Whedon will fit Atwell into Age of Ultron:
